KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has yet to decide whether to retract his resignation as Petronas adviser as requested by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak yesterday.

“I’m already old, the doctors too have asked me to reduce my activities a little but the prime minister asked me (to reconsider the decision), I don’t know-lah. Let’s see first how it goes…” he said briefly when asked on the matter, here yesterday.

Dr Mahathir was approached by reporters after attending the opening of the Umno General Assembly 2013 by Najib at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC).

According to reports, Dr Mahathir had decided on Nov 2 not to hold the position considering his health.

On Wednesday, Najib asked Mahathir to reconsider the decision.

On the Umno general assembly this time, Dr Mahathir said he was impressed by the presence of a large number of delegates thus giving the signal that Umno received the attention of the general public.

Dr Mahathir, who is also a former Umno president, advised the top Umno leadership to implement whatever programme that had been planned for the Malays and Bumiputera as proof that the party championed their cause. — Bernama
