18 injured in Little India riot: SCDF

SINGAPORE: The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said 18 casualties, including four SCDF personnel, were sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital as a result of the riot in Little India, Channel News Asia reported.

The riot broke out at the junction of Race Course Road and Tekka Lane on Sunday night.

In a statement, the SCDF said they received a call about a road traffic accident at the location at 9.25pm informing them that a man was found trapped under a bus.

An SCDF paramedic pronounced him dead on arrival.

The SCDF said projectiles were thrown at them while they were extricating the body using hydraulic rescue equipment.

As a result of the riot, one SCDF ambulance, three police vehicles and one motorbike were burnt.
