KUCHING: A total of 30 government agencies will take part in the Mobile Community Transformation Centre (CTC) Programme in Lundu this Friday to Sunday (Dec 13-15).

State Implementation Monitoring Unit (Simu) deputy director Felicia Tan said this is the first time the event is held in the state.

“There will be 30 agencies taking part in the programme, including 22 federal agencies and eight state agencies. Among them are the State Health Department, National Registration Department, State Election Commission, Public Complaints Bureau, Employees Provident Fund, Yayasan Sarawak, police and more.

“The objective of the programme is to bring government services closer to rural folks who do not have direct access to the facilities,” she told a press conference yesterday.

Tan said the programme will include other side activities.

“We will have sports and recreational activities as well as stalls for the local folk to trade or showcase their products. We will have 150 stalls and so far 101 have been confirmed.

“Also, the Ministry of Finance will have a Goods and Services Tax (GST) counter to enable the public to learn and understand more about the soon to be implemented GST,” she said.

The Mobile CTC Programme will be held at Medan Penjaja Lundu in the town square.

Booths and stalls are expected to operate from 2.30pm to 5pm on Friday, 9am to 5pm on Saturday and 9am to 1pm on Sunday.

Special Functions Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Adenan Satem will launch the event on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Lundu District Officer Azmi Bujang called on the people to support the inaugural programme.

“Members of the public are encouraged to take advantage of this programme as all the services provided by the government will be there for them. Not just people from Lundu, but also from Bau, Kuching and Samarahan should visit during the weekend,” he said.

Ministry of Finance senior deputy director Abdul Wahid Ahmad added that the Mobile CTC Programme is an initiative under the Eighth National Blue Ocean Strategy.

“Our ministry is the custodian of the programme at the national level. The programme in Lundu is actually the finale for 2013. We hope to organise more such events in the future,” he said.
