Facon Education Fair in KK today

SANDAKAN: The Facon Education Fair which took place in Sandakan Hotel here yesterday attracted more than 100 youngsters who were seeking further education options.

Open to the public from 12-4pm, the Facon Education Fair provides a platform for globally recognized institutions of higher learning to disseminate information on further education opportunities to Malaysians.

The education roadshow which continues today at Promenade Hotel, Kota Kinabalu, features higher study programmes offered by Advance Tertiary College, Imperia Education Group, Mahsa University, The University of Reading Malaysia, Asia e University, International College of Automotive, Malaysian Institute of Banking, UNITAR International University, Kolej Yayasan UEM, President College, Saito College, Erican College, Curtin University Sarawak, and more.

Since its inception in 1990, this event has been attended by millions of visitors. It is also endorsed by the Ministry of Higher Education in recognition for its success and contributions to the education industry and human resource development.

The event kicked off on December 7 and will be covering six cities in Sabah and Sarawak where school leavers and working adults will have the opportunity to meet with these renowned institutions.

Visitors are provided with options for courses ranging from Design, IT, Law, Business, Medicine, Mass Communication, Engineering, Science, Accounting, Finance and more.

Chin Yee Jhun, 19, a fresh school leaver who had just completed his STPM, went to the fair in the hope of finding more options of learning institution for him to further his study in business management and administration.

“I am very happy with the result of this exhibition, there are more options for me to consider now,” Chin said.

According to Chin, in selecting a higher learning institution, he needs to consider a few factors including the course fee, intake date and location.

Determined to achieve his ambition to become a public relations officer or human resource management personnel, Chin said that he does not mind to further his studies out of Sabah.

Also visiting the education fair yesterday were three friends Beatrice Orissaderi Dausip, 20, Chong Shet Yee, 19, and Aiyons Dessi, 16, who are in search of the best education for them to achieve their dreams.

For Beatrice, the most important thing in deciding her education path is whether the course can provide an on-demand job which comes with excellent career progression.

Chong, on the other hand, wants to own a business and become a successful businesswoman. However, she said that a good education is still important for her to reach her goal.

Meanwhile, Aiyons who is sitting for SPM examination next year said that she is still keeping her options open in determining her career pathway.
