JASIN: Forty-one Public Housing Projects (PPR) costing a total of RM578 million will be built throughout the country next year, said Deputy Minister of Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Datuk Halimah Mohd Sadique.

Thus, she called on the state governments, especially those  under the opposition, to give full cooperation to the federal government particularly in providing suitable locations to implement the project so as  to give the best facilities to the rakyat.

Halimah said it was rather difficult for her ministry to work with state governments led by the opposition as they placed additional conditions to delay the projects whereas the PPR projects were being fully funded by the federal government.

“The state governments only need to provide suitable land for the project and not to offer land situated too far from the town or are totally unsuitable for occupation,” she told reporters at the ground-breaking ceremony for the Ayer Panas PPR in Bemban, here yesterday.

The ceremony was officiated at by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron and was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovations, Datuk Dr Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah.

The Ayer Panas PPR, which was being built at a cost of RM80 million would accommodate 500 units of three-room houses with two bathrooms with a built-up area of 700 sq. ft per unit, and was expected to be fully completed in May 2016. — Bernama
