Murder of Jaip officer: Four Tuhan Harun followers charged

KUANTAN: Four followers of the deviant group Tuhan Harun were charged in the High Court here yesterday over the murder of Pahang Islamic Religious Department (Jaip) assistant enforcement chief Ahmad Raffli Abd Malek.

Sumustapha Suradi, 39, from Kampung Sibugal Besar, Sandakan, Sabah is accused with two others still at large, of killing Ahmad Raffli, 49, in front of the victim’s house in Lorong IM2/29, Bandar Indera Mahkota here at 1.50 pm on Nov 10 this year.

If convicted, he faces the mandatory death under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Meanwhile, the deviant group’s leader, Harun Mat Saat, 47, his third wife, Azida Mohd Zol, 30, and another follower, Shaizral Eddie Nizam Shaari, 37, are jointly accused with Sumustapha and two others still at large, of criminal conspiracy leading to Ahmad Raffli’s death at the same time and place.

The charge under Section 120B(1) of the Penal Code read with Section 34 of the same Code, carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

All four accused pleaded not guilty before Judge Datuk Ab Karim Ab Rahman, who set Jan 28 for mention of the two cases.

Earlier, deputy public prosecutor Salim Soib@ Hamid applied to the court to seek permission from Sungai Buloh Hospital for Harun to be transferred to Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital here.

The wheelchair-bound accused, from Kampung Jelutong, Kok Lanas, Ketereh, Kelantan was being treated at the hospital after suffering a stroke in July. — Bernama
