KUANTAN: A total of 312 government-linked companies (GLCs) and the private sector had signed the Corporate Integrity Pledge (CIP) as a commitment to fight corruption since December 2010.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention) Datuk Sutinah Sutan said although the number was still negligible, she was happy with the commitment shown by each of the companies to ensure they were free of corrupt practices.

She disclosed this to reporters after the signing of the CIP by 11 statutory bodies of the Pahang state government together with MACC. The statutory bodies included the Pahang Foundation, Pahang Islamic Religion and Malay Customs Council, Bukit Fraser Development Corporation, Pengurusan Air Pahang Berhad and Kolej Islam Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Adnan Yaakob and Sutinah, here yesterday.

Sutinah said the MACC welcomed the commitment shown by the 11 statutory bodies concerned, thus reflecting the determination of the management to implement integrity strengthening programmes and crime prevention in the agencies.

“In implementing the corporate mission and vision, they would come across a competitive situation which would lead to a challenge whether they would resort to corrupt practices or otherwise. — Bernama
