SEPANG: Over 7,000 Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) non-executive employees will receive RM140 monthly cost of living allowance (Cola) beginning January.

Peninsular Malaysia Airports Workers Union (Kesma) president Hussin Shahar said the Cola was one of the 22 demands made by the union which was accepted by MAHB in improving the scheme of service.

With the implementation of the Cola, MAHB is the second government-linked company providing Cola after Tenaga Nasional Berhad, he told reporters after the signing of the collective agreement between Kesma and MAHB here yesterday.

Apart from Kesma, the MAHB Sabah and Labuan Workers Union and MAHB Sarawak Workers Union also signed separate collective agreements with MAHB at the event.

MAHB chairman Tan Sri Dr Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Abdullah said the collective agreements effective Jan 1, 2014 to Dec 31, 2016 entailed a salary adjustment and improvement in allowances.

This will go a long way in creating industrial harmony, he said, adding that MAHB had always been looking for avenues to forge closer relations with the unions as good relations would benefit both parties. — Bernama
