KAPIT: Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi and Jefferson Jamit – a political secretary to the Chief Minister – will lead the Maulidur Rasul procession here on Tuesday.

Kapit Deputy Resident (Social) Zul Usup said the procession will begin from the civic centre compound at 8am.

He said Nanta will also give a speech and there would be a presentation of education incentives to students who excelled in their Ujian Pencapaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR), Penilaian Menengah Rendah (PMR) and Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM).

There will also be a banner competition, Zikir Marhaban and prayers.

Zul called on the organising committee to ensure there is sufficient publicity for the event.

“We have to publicise the celebration so that the community is aware of the activity. Work closely with the print and electronic media to disseminate the news.

“One of the ways is to place banners at the Kapit terminal – that’s the gateway to Kapit so that commuters can learn of the activity,” he said during a meeting on the event recently.
