MIRI: Permaisuri Imperial City Mall will be officially open to the public this Friday.

The mall, strategically located right in the centre of Miri Central business district, is a seven-storey premium shopping mall with two basement car parks for 1,100 parking bays as well as a net retail area of 300,000 sq ft to cater for 112 retail lots.

“Since the ground-breaking about two years ago, many have been wondering about its exact completion date.

“Likewise, I myself have been making sure that it is open to fellow Mirians and our domestic tourists from Brunei and other parts of the state, in time for the upcoming festivity and school holiday,” Don Yew Hoon, chief executive officer of Boulevard Group of Companies said at a press conference yesterday.

PICM, linked to Imperial Mall through a sky bridge, he said, not only offers safe and convenient walkways for the shoppers, but has upgraded the mall as a high-end shopping destination considered as one of its kind here.

Yew added that the outlets in the mall have been categorised according to each floor to make shopping easier.

“Basically, the ground floor will be filled with food and beverage outlets with outdoor covered-sitting and international fashion houses and skincare boutiques, while the first floor will see established local fashion houses, international and local foot wears retailers, health care products, watches and optical shops as well as cafes.

“Meanwhile, international sport foot wears and apparel shops, ladies lingerie boutique, young fashion, cosmetic shop and perfume shop, optical and book shop, IT and hand phone and specialist sound shops will be the focus of second floor.

“For movie goers, teenagers and children, the third, fourth and fifth floor, which consists of cinema, games arcade and K-box, Internet Café, shall be their favourite place to visit,” Yew said.

Speaking of the soft opening launch, Yew mentioned that 55 tenants which make about 70 per cent of the total occupancy is expected to open to shoppers while the rest are expected to open in April with the completion of TGV cinema.

“We are confident to see 100 per cent occupancy with 79 tenants, by June 1st, 2014,” he said.

Among the shops which shoppers should be looking forward to are F&B outlets comprising Shabu Shabu and Teppanyaki, Balinese Malay Restaurant, FullHouse, Korean BBQ Chicken, BRC Café with Quicksilver and Roxy, Starbucks, Kenny Rogers Roasters and Share Tea.

Apparel and shoe shops include Mango, Padini Concept Store, Padini Kids, Guess Accessories, Hush Puppies Shoe, Hello Kitty Boutique, Brands Outlets, YFS Concept Store, Esprit, Puma, Adidas, Nike and Clarks.
