MARUDI: Drivers here are dissatisfied with the poor conditions along of Miri-Marudi road, particularly between the Sungai Arang ferry point and Nanga Ridan.

According to them there are stretches riddled with potholes, which the contractor filled with soil, that have worsened due to the rainy season.

A lorry driver, who did not wish to be named, pointed out that the road is slippery and dangerous particularly to smaller vehicles.

“When inexperienced drivers drive along the slippery parts of the road, sometimes they can lose control of their vehicles and end up by the side of the road, which can be very dangerous for them as there are no barriers and the cars could end up in the ditch or monsoon drains,” he said.

He called on the road contractor to ensure that gravel is levelled into the potholes as soon as they are filled with black soil.

A fellow road user also called on the contractor to quickly improve conditions.

“We hope the said contractor will repair the road immediately as we hope during this coming Chinese New Year celebration, more Chinese will be coming home to Marudi to celebrate with their families,” said the road user.
