150 fire and rescue stations to be built in 10 years

PUTRAJAYA: A total of 150 new fire and rescue stations will be built nationwide within the next 10 years to accommodate the country’s rapid development, Fire and Rescue director-general Datuk Wan Mohd Nor Ibrahim said yesterday.

He said there were currently 260 fire and rescue stations in the country.

The department will also recruit another 15,000 personnel, bringing the total to 45,000 personnel, he told a media conference after the passing out parade of firemen attending the diploma and advanced diploma course in fire science here yesterday.

On the proposed setting up of an auxiliary search and rescue, Wan Mohd Nor said the matter had yet to be finalised. — Bernama
