KOTA KINABALU: Police will be calling the woman who claimed to be robbed at Suria Sabah to obtain her statement after the latter confessed that the incident never took place despite having lodged a police report.

City police chief ACP Jauteh Dikun when contacted yesterday said, police are waiting for the 20-year-old woman to give her statement after she initially lodged a police report claiming to be the victim of an alleged robbery at Suria Sabah shopping mall on January 6.

“We will take into consideration her previous police report and the confession she made yesterday (Wednesday).

“Police will look into her case and once the investigation is complete, we will hand the investigation paper to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) for further action,” he said.

Asked if police would take any action against the woman for initially lodging a false police report pertaining to the case, Jauteh said it was up to the DPP to decide.

The so-called victim in the robbery attempt that allegedly happened at Suria Sabah on January 6 finally made a public confession that the whole incident was a made-up story that went wrong.

The alleged victim made a public apology and clarified that she had actually cut herself and that there had been no robbery attempt at the said shopping mall after photos of her slashed wrist and leg went viral in social network without her knowledge and consent.
