KOTA KINABALU: A couple of Good Samaritans came to a student’s aid yesterday to apprehend a man suspected of snatching her Samsung Note 3 smartphone two days ago.

It was learnt that the 17-year-old student saw the man walking around Lintas Plaza yesterday and immediately identified him as the suspect.

The student then alerted some members of the public about the incident and together went to apprehend him.

“I recognise him because he snatched my handphone and he was wearing the same shirt he wore yesterday,” said the girl who did not want to be identified.

It was also learnt that the suspect was beaten by the public and pinned him to the ground before police arrived at 3:30pm.

The student had earlier lodged a police report after the incident on Thursday, and is now glad that the man has been arrested.
