KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Happiness Index (MHI) shows that the country’s economic growth brings happiness to the people.

Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Dr Ali Hamsa said data until 2012 was based on indicators between the economy and happiness and between the economy and social.

It was presented by the Economic Planning Unit (EPU) of the Prime Minister’s Department at a knowledge-sharing session in conjunction with the 15th  Malaysia-Brunei senior officers exchange programme.

“The EPU presented a report and discussions were held on the topic,” he told reporters here yesterday.

Ali said the exchange programme proves the close ties between Malaysia and Brunei, especially the civil servants of both countries.

“This year, we have increased networking whereby officers who have changed portfolio or retired can still continue the close ties,” he added.

The Malaysia-Brunei senior officers exchange programme from Jan 24 to 26 is an annual event hosted on  rotation basis since 1998.

The social interaction programme is aimed at fostering ties between the civil services of Malaysia and Brunei.
