LAHAD DATU: Fire destroyed 15 wooden houses in Kampung Air, Jalan Pantai here yesterday.
Fire and Rescue Department station operating officer Abu Bakar Taraji said no casualties were recorded.
“The department received a distress call at 2.10pm and seven firemen in two fire engines reached the scene at 2.19pm.
“The fire was put under control at 2.38pm and the operation ended at 4.13pm,” he said, adding that they were also assisted by the volunteer firefighters from Silam and Segama.
Abu Bakar said the close proximity of the houses and wind caused the fire to spread easily and destroyed the houses.
He added that the cause of fire as well as losses were still being investigated.
