BANGI: The investigation paper on the case of a father who allegedly slashed his daughter to death and injured another two in Bangi will be presented

to the public prosecutor soon, Selangor deputy police chief Datuk Abd Rahim Jaafar said yesterday.

“Based on information from the family and the public we suspect he is mentally unstable. Let the court decide on whether he should be referred to a psychiatric hospital,” he said after visiting the Bandar Baru Bangi Sports Complex as part of preparations ahead of the Kajang state seat by-election.

He said the suspect was stable but still receiving treatment for head injuries at the Kajang Hospital and would be fully interrogated when he is discharged.

Commenting on claims that the incident could possibly be linked to deviationist teachings, he said the police would investigate the case from all angles.

In the incident on Thursday, the suspect’s youngest daughter was slashed to death at the scene while another two daughters, 12 and 10, were injured on the neck and hand resulting in one of them having her thumb severed.

On the case of four men who fled with RM3.36 million from a security van at a petrol station in Ijok, Kuala Selangor on January 28, he said the last suspect still at large would be caught soon.

“We have arrested three men and they’ve been remanded until Feb 6,” he said.

Touching on the Kajang state seat by-election, he said the Selangor police was preparing for it and monitoring the hot spots in the area.

“We have yet to determine the number of personnel on duty but assure the public that the by-election will proceed smoothly,” he said.

The seat was vacated by assemblyman Lee Chin Cheh who resigned last Monday. — Bernama
