‘Drummatic’ workshop at Miri Country Music Fest this Feb 15

KUCHING: Drum enthusiasts should not miss the Be Drummatic workshop to be held during the Miri Country Music Fest this coming Feb 15.

The hour-long workshop starting from 2.30pm will be conducted by Kenny Hogan of the Wandering Mustangs band from Singapore.

A well-known drummer in this region, Kenny is also the international endorser for Sabian Cymbals, Shure Mics, Extreme Isolation Headphones (US), Hart Dynamics (US), Kelly Shu Pro (US) and the world’s No 1 drumstick manufacturer, Vic Firth.

Participants will have the opportunity to learn various styles of drumming such as rock, fusion, country and jazz beats.

Promising to be an exciting workshop, Kenny will also share his experience on when to play less and when to play more, depending on the genre of music and the musician’s capabilities.

He will also demonstrate on the important role of a drummer and the important elements that drummers should know when performing in a band.

Apart from sharing of skills, techniques and knowledge, Kenny will also show hand and foot exercises (linear styles).

Miri Country Music Fest will be staged at Parkcity Everly Hotel, Miri, on Feb 15 and various programmes had been lined-up for the one-day event.

The programmes include workshops, food and game stalls and a night concert.

Other workshop highlights are the Sound of Nashville, which will be conducted by the Johnny Rodgers Band from Nashville, USA, and a line dance.

The night concert, which starts from 5pm, will feature Hi Breed Band from Kuching, Country Road Band (Miri), D’Renegades (Kota Kinabalu), Corn Cake Kings (Kuala Lumpur), Wandering Mustangs, Mel & Joe (both from Singapore), Eia and the Superband (Brunei Darussalam) and Johnny Rodgers band.

Tickets to the fest is priced at RM80 each for adults and this includes one free drink while tickets for children aged three to 12 are RM40 each and this is inclusive of one soft drink or ice cream.
