KUCHING: Entrepreneur turned singer-actress Jessie Chung has sold more than 10,000 DVDs of her second movie ‘Unchanging Love’.

The movie, which cost around RM100,000 to produce, took three months from October to December last year to shoot.

During the movie’s first week of release last month, all 10,000 DVDs were sold out.

Following the overwhelming response and support, Chung — the founder of health supplement and organic retail store Natural Health Farm (NHF) — said another 10,000 copies have been produced and are now available for sale.

“I was surprised and overwhelmed to receive such a good response.

“When the first release of 10,000 copies was sold out in the first week, my colleagues suggested to produce more copies. I thought it was a positive suggestion and decided to produce another 10,000 copies,” she told the press during her Chinese New Year open house on Tuesday.

She said the response also reflected a caring society because all the proceeds would go to a cancer treatment fund.

“To treat cancer usually involves high costs. As such, we decided to donate all proceeds to the cancer treatment fund. I really appreciate those who have supported me,” she said.

Chung’s first movie ‘Faces’, which was also shot last year, is still in the editing process.

She added that she would begin production for a martial arts movie in April. Pointing out that acting is not an easy career, she said there were many tough challenges during shooting. “We do have injuries occurring during shooting. I also could not have enough rest and sleep. But those challenges did not discourage me to give my best in my acting,” she said.

She believes viewers’ preferences have changed and they would not appreciate unrealistic fighting scenes.

As such, she said the thespians had to use all their might and energy as well as speed in fight scenes.

Chung has also released her latest diary ‘Jessie Diary VI: Enjoying Your Work’.

She hoped the latest diary, which is filled with encouragement and life principles, would motivate and inspire others to think positively. Her first diary published in 2008 was called ‘The Race of My Life’.

It was followed by ‘The Power of Love’, ‘Hearing a Blessed Voice’, ‘The Passage of a Colourful Life’ and ‘Love in You’. The 120-minute ‘Unchanging Love’ is distributed by Symphony Musical House Sdn Bhd in Selangor.

Chung, who had gender reassignment surgery, first made headlines in 2005 for her marriage to a man.
