SEREMBAN: The government should take legal action against the member of parliament for Seputeh Teresa Kok for producing a video that allegedly insulted the leader and the Malays.

The vice-president of the Malaysian Council of Former Elected Representatives (Mubarak) Datuk Mohd Yazid Baba said this was necessary to prevent such provocation from being repeated in future.

“We fear that if it is allowed to go on, it can break up the solidarity and social harmony in the country. The government must take stern action in terms of the law so that it will become a lesson to those wishing to do it,” he told reporters after opening the general meeting of the Negeri Sembilan Mubarak Branch, here yesterday.

He said that Mubarak lambasted the action of Teresa Kok as it should not have been made by a respected member of the House (Parliament).

In another development, he urged the government to review the pension structure for former Members of Parliament and former State Assemblymen as the present rate was inadequate.

Meanwhile, in the election of committee members of the Negeri Sembilan branch of Mubarak, Mohd Yazid was elected unopposed. He succeeds Datuk Siti Rahmah Kassim who did not seek election.
