Ewon, Masidi celebrate with Ranau Chinese community

RANAU: In conjunction with Chinese New Year, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister cum Ranau member of parliament, Datuk Dr. Ewon Ebin, attended an open house held by the Chinese community here.

Dr. Ewon was the special guest while Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, was the guest of honour at the celebration organised by the Ranau Persatuan Peranakan Cina.

During the event which was held at the community centre here, Masidi, who is also Karanaan assemblyman, presented a special allocation to the district’s Persatuan Hakka, Persatuan Tionghua, Persatuan Hokkien and Ranau Chinese Chamber of Commerce. They each received RM12,888.

Also present were Persatuan Peranakan Cina Ranau chairman, Aldem Chia, Persatuan Hakka Sabah chairman cum Kapitan Cina for Paginatan, Datuk Jimmy Tham, Karanaan Kapitan Cina, Halik Chong, his Kundasang counterpart, Koh Yee, Ranau district officer Faimin Kamin, former federal minister, Tan Sri Kasitah Gaddam and local community leaders.
