KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Economic Development and Investment Authority (SEDIA) on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Haji Aman at his office.

The visitors from SEDIA, led by Chief Executive Datuk Dr Mohd Yaakub, comprised the management team.

The objective for the meeting was to update Musa on Sabah Development Corridor (SDC) activities, while also seeking his guidance on several initiatives and moving forward in the preparation for the 11th Malaysia Plan.

Musa, who is SEDIA chairman, was briefed on the current status of projects undertaken by SEDIA and the investment efforts under the Sabah Development Corridor, along with initiatives undertaken to promote investment into Sabah.

Going forward, SEDIA will continue to drive the key focus areas within the SDC, while efforts will be directed on enhancing global connectivity, especially the efficiency of the logistics sector by improving the relevant infrastructure and enhancing the integration of land, sea, and air services. Emphasis will also be given to the improvement of broadband internet services.

Global competitiveness will increasingly be determined by efficiency of services as well as an adaptable and talented workforce. It is therefore necessary to enhance the quality of human capital to meet the industry requirements.

SEDIA will also take measures to build the foundation for new sources of economic growth, such as biotechnology, ICT, green technology, nanotechnology and advanced materials.
