Senior citizen robbed of RM20,000 valuables at restaurant

PUTATAN: A senior citizen lost items and valuables worth RM20,000 after he was robbed by three armed robbers at a restaurant in Putatan Court, here yesterday morning.

The incident reportedly happened around 5.30am when the 70-year-old victim, who is an employee at the restaurant, was opening the premises for business.

It was learnt that the robbers confronted the victim and threatened him with a machete before fleeing the scene with several items and a Perodua Kancil car all worth around RM20,000 belonging to the restaurant owner. The robbers then fled the scene on motorcycles and the stolen car.

Penampang police chief DSP Ratan Kumar Singh said police were still carrying out investigation to identify the robbers. He urged anyone with information to come forward to assist in the investigation.
