LAHAD DATU: The police detained two men in their 20s on suspicion of involvement in several robbery cases in the district.

District police chief Superintendent Shamsudin Mat yesterady said that following a public tip-off and surveillance, the suspects were arrested on Monday after being seen using a stolen car at Bandar Sri Perdana.

Shamsudin said one of the suspects tried to flee the scene and struggled with the police. However, both of them were arrested and brought to the police station for further action.

“Following the arrest, we found MyKad, driving license, ATM card and bag believed to belong to the car owner. We also found a fake vehicle registration number plate inside the car.

“A knife and a machete, believed used to rob, were also seized inside the car,” he said, adding that both suspects were detained for further investigation under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code.
