SIBU: Sibu police chief ACP Mohd Kamal Kordi confirmed yesterday that a chartered accountant is being investigated for alleged human trafficking.

He said the suspect, Wong Ching Yong, had had his statement recorded at the police station.

Kordi said the police were acting on a complaint from the Indonesian Consulate in Kuching.

The alleged case was classified under Anti Human Trafficking.

“D7 Unit police from Kuching will assist us in probing the case,” the police chief added.

According to a See Hua Daily News report yesterday, seven to eight policemen went to Wong’s house on Thursday to take away a foreign house maid.

It also said Wong had not paid his maid for a few months and had allegedly forced her to slice pork.

Meanwhile, Wong told a See Hua reporter yesterday that he would hold a press conference to explain the matter after consultation with his lawyers.
