KOTA KINABALU: Persatuan Alumni Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) handed over cash and food assistance to the flood victims in Beaufort on Sunday.

The association hoped its assistance would contribute towards the government’s call for more NGOs and corporate bodies to help the victims.

“No need to wait for so long to help those victims because they are in need of assistance from us.

“As for our association, we got our cash and food from public donation and also our donation drive at the State Mosque,” said the president, Ahmad Syazwan Saidin.

The association handed over the assistance to the victims who were placed at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Gadong Beaufort Hall.

Assistance was also distributed to villages at Kampung Gadong and Kabidang, Beaufort.

From his observation, he said the flood victims needed basic items such as mineral water, rice and canned food.

Ahmad also called on members of the public to contact him at 0128926282 or bank the funds directly to his Maybank Account 1110 8417 7833 (Ahmad Syazwan Saidin) as the association would be doing a follow-up programme to help in cleaning up the victims’ houses and mosques in villages around Beaufort.
