Two schools isolated by flood

KOTA KINABALU: Two schools in Keningau have been disconnected from the nearby town following serious flooding in the district.

State education director Datuk Jame Alip said Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Binanon and SK Pohon Batu are only accessible by a logging road, which also is badly affected by the flood.

“Teachers of both schools are now marooned there and the district education office has not been able to contact them. The Pensiangan parliamentary office has been informed about the situation and I was told that they are trying to send food supplies to both schools,” he said.

Jame added that continuous rain since the night of February 13 had caused serious flooding in Keningau and other districts like Tenom, Beaufort, Sipitang and the surrounding areas.
