Police bust heroin lab in house, four detained

GEORGE TOWN: The Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group (Sting) has uncovered a heroin-processing laboratory in Green Lane here, arrested four people and seized more than 80kg of the drug, according to a police source.

A raid was conducted on a house there yesterday afternoon after the police had arrested four individuals, it said.

One of the suspects led police to the house where the police seized more than 73 kg of what is believed to be heroin and more than nine kg of what is believed to be heroin base, the source said.

It said the police also seized items used to process drugs, among them caffeine powder, thinner, chloroform, liquid chemicals, sulfamic acid, a microwave oven and an electric hot plate and sealer.

The source said the police first arrested a man and a woman in Tanjung Tokong here last Sunday and seized from them drugs such as Syabu, heroin and Eramin 5 pills.

Another man and his wife were arrested on the same day and the police recovered a small packet of what is believed to be heroin in a trouser pocket of the man, it said.

The source said the man and his wife led police to a massage parlour here where they recovered some heroin. — Bernama
