KUALA LUMPUR: The Yang Dipertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, yesterday chaired the 234th meeting of the Conference of Rulers at the Istana Negara here.
The two-day meeting, which began yesterday, was attended by all the Malay rulers except for the sultans of Kedah and Perak, who sent their representatives, and the Yang Dipertuas Negeri of Penang, Melaka, Sabah and Sarawak.
The rulers were accompanied by the respective menteris besar while the Yang Dipertuas Negeri of Penang, Melaka and Sabah were accompanied by the respective chief ministers.
Sarawak Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng was accompanied by Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan, who represented the chief minister.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah, and the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tuanku Hajah Haminah, are scheduled to attend a banquet tonight in conjunction with the meeting.
Tuanku Abdul Halim is also scheduled to attend the meeting today. — Bernama
