KOTA KINABALU: A motorcyclist was killed after his machine was knocked by a Nissan Vanette van along Tuaran Bypass, near Lorong Cerah 8, Taman Cerah, Menggatal here on Friday.
Lamdah Amjah, 42, from Kampung Gudon, Manggatal succumbed to head and body injuries at the crime scene.
It is learnt that the victim was coming from Kg Gudon when the van knocked the victim’s motorcycle while turning into Taman Cerah from the Tuaran Bypass at 11.25pm.
The victim was thrown a couple of metres and died at the scene due to the impact, while the 65-year-old driver of the Nissan Vanette van escaped with minor injury.
City police chief ACP Jauteh Dikun, who confirmed the incident, said the victim’s body had been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem.
He urged eyewitness to come forward to assist police in their investigation under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
