MUKAH: The selection of 31-year-old local born engineer, Adrian Dorhad, an earlier favourite for the Balingian by-election encountered a last minute change when he was replaced by Dalat District Officer Yussibnosh Balo, 48, who confirmed resigning from the civil service.

Yussibnosh tendered his resignation after meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in Kuching last night.

When pressed further he, however, refused to comment. He was seen leaving in a hurry.

Yussibnosh is a Christian from Kpg Tellian in Mukah.

According to sources on the ground, he was chosen because he has been known to maintain very close rapport with the grassroots as well as the local elected representatives.

BN is expected to officially announce its candidate today.
