KUCHING: More than 200 Hindus turned up for a combined prayer session at Sri Srinivasagar Kaliamam Temple at Jalan Ban Hock on Friday to pray for the safe return of crew and passengers of flight MH370.

The prayer session was held for the first time and devotees prayed to Goddess Ambal, temple committee member for public affairs T Ganesan said.

“We are praying for the safe return of the passengers and crew, to look after the families of the passengers and crew, to thank the Malaysian government who are handling the crisis and to look after the ships and fishermen who joined in the search to locate the missing airplane,” Ganesan pointed out.

During the prayer session, devotees also observed a minute’s silence.

Malaysia Airlines commercial jet MH370 went missing last Saturday, enroute from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. There were 239 passengers and crew aboard the missing plane.

Two-thirds of the 227 passengers on board the plane were Chinese. Others were from Asian countries, North America or Europe. All the 12 crew members were Malaysians.
