KUCHING: Angkatan Zaman Mansang Sarawak (Azam) Youth Leadership Bootcamp abounds with stories of local youth achievers in the likes of state footballer Joseph Kallang Tie, Sarawak youth icon Hamzah Saufi and Era FM announcer Syakirah Basri or Osha.
The one-day camp held yesterday aimed to equip future leaders with relevant skills and knowledge while giving them development information.
It included sessions such as on ice-breaking, leaders and trendsetters of tomorrow, and games on knowledge development.
The bootcamp was participated by more than 100 persons comprising undergraduates from higher learning institutes, secondary schools, youth associations and young professionals.
Sarawak Bumiputera Trust Fund (Tegas) board member Dr Hazland Hipni said the programme, held in conjuction with Sarawak Career and Training (SCAT) fair, was jointly organised by the Labour Unit of the Chief Minister’s Office and Tegas.
He said the state government was working hard to train capable youths to be manpower for Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE).
“We will need around a million skilled workers by the time SCORE is fully operational, and we tailored special programmes according to area – Demak Laut in my case,” said the Demak Laut assemblyman.
Hazland said Tegas had received sponsorships from the private sector. Sunway University
gave the largest donation of RM2 million in scholarships for Sarawakians to study at the University.
Hazland said the response to the SCAT fair, ended yesterday, was overwhelming with around 15,000 visitors.
