ALOR SETAR: A nine-month-old baby, who was blistered all over his body, allegedly due to an allergy from a medicine prescribed by a private clinic here died yesterday.

Muhammad Nasrullah Khairul Nizam died at 1.25am after he was treated for 10 days at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital (HSB)’s intensive care unit. He was admitted on March 5.

His father, Khairul Nizam Lebai Jusoh, 41, said his son was confirmed to have died of viral infection in the blood or inflammation of the whole body, which caused death due to acute infection.

“He started to improve after treatment at HSB on Feb 25. The Umno Kulim-Bandar Baharu Puteri chief Nor Sabrina Mohd Noor helped us to take him to the Kedah Medical Centre (KMC) to get the skin specialist’s opinion on March 5.

“After examining him, the doctor told us to take him back to HSB as he already has a record there,” he told reporters in Kampung Kuala Bangka, Kota Sarang Semut here, yesterday.

Meanwhile Khairul Nizam said he would discuss with his family on whether to take action against the clinic, which had allegedly caused his son’s death.

The body of Muhammad Nasrullah was buried at the Permatang Buluh Mosque Cemetery here at 9am.

On Feb 16, the body of the baby started to blister and turned blackish after taking a medicine prescribed by a private clinic here for rashes for several days before he was taken to HSB for further treatment. — Bernama
