KUCHING: The Islamic Information Centre (IIC) in Kuching, Sarawak would be an ideal place to start learning more about Islam.

The centre was established in 2008 to promote and communicate the universality of Islam so as to create a better understanding and a greater appreciation of Islam among the multi-ethnic and multi-religious populace of Sarawak.

Over the past few years, the IIC has become a landmark institution promoting interfaith and cross cultural activities – from educational lectures and programs that emphasise the universal values that Islam espouses to providing a platform for intellectuals and professionals to discuss about and work on creative solution to social issues that challenge the local community.

Apart from its role as an institution of learning, the centre also caters to the needs of new Muslims providing a hospitable and open environment that eases integration into the larger Muslim community.

One of the IIC’s objectives is to forge meaningful relations with other institutions, NGOs and particularly with communities of other faiths. This has been a major activity of the centre over the past five years.

The centre aspires to play a major role towards enhancing a greater understanding and appreciation of Islam as a blessing for all creation and as an ideal way of life.
