Likas hospital patient angry for being left waiting

A patient at the Sabah Women and Children Hospital in Likas complained of being left to wait for 30 minutes without being notified by a nurse on duty that her business at the hospital had been settled.

The patient said that she went to the hospital for her scheduled appointment at 9.50am yesterday.

Her turn to see the doctor came only three hours later, after which she was given a medical sheet and was asked to hand it over at the appointment counter.

Upon placing her medical sheet there, she was asked by the nurse on duty at the counter to wait for her turn.

However, after waiting for 30 minutes in front of the nurse, her name was still not called. She then approached the nurse again.

The nurse then told her that she was good to go as there was no follow-up appointment set for her.

“I have already been at the hospital for the last three hours. But I cannot complain about that as I can see that there were hundreds of patients waiting for their turn as well.

“By the time I completed my review appointment with the doctor, all I wanted was to leave as I was also working and needed to get to work soonest possible.

“So when the nurse failed to inform me that I could leave, and left me waiting and wasted another 30 minutes for nothing, I got really frustrated. Who wouldn’t?” lamented the complainant.

She called on the hospital management to look into the matter and ensure that it would not happen again in the future.
