Restaurant chef found dead in rented room

KOTA KINABALU: A restaurant chef was found dead inside a rented room on the third floor of Api-Api Centre here yesterday.

Azees Meerasha, a 44-year-old Indian national, was discovered dead by his roommate around 8.30 am.

The deceased is believed to be employed as a chef in an Indian restaurant in Api-Api centre and has reportedly been in the country for several years.

He had apparently succumbed to a heart attack, as confirmed by the paramedic who was at the scene after being informed of the discovery of his body.

City police chief ACP Jauteh Dikun has dismissed any criminal elements in the case which has been classified as sudden death.

He said the body had been taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem.
