KUCHING: The decomposed body of a youth was found floating in the Sarawak River near Kampung Panglima Seman here yesterday.
The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Noor Kamarulzaman Abdullah of Kampung Tabuan Hilir.
Members of the public spotted his bloated body in the river around 4.15pm and immediately notified the police of the discovery.
A police team was dispatched to the scene to recover the body before sending it to the Sarawak General Hospital for post mortem.
A source said the body was clad in long pants and a black T-shirt at the time of discovery.
Police have classified the case as sudden death pending the outcome of the post mortem.
Separately, a teenage girl was admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital after she consumed poison at her aunt’s house in Bau yesterday.
The 14-year-old, who originally came from Simunjan, was found by her aunt groaning in pain and was immediately sent to the hospital, where she is said to be in stable condition.
