50 attend basic coach education course

KUCHING: Twenty-four trainee teachers and 26 undergraduates in physical education and sports science programme attended the Basic Coaching Education (BCE) Course that was held recently at the Teacher Education Institute Campus Tun Abdul Razak (IPGKTAR).

The course, jointly organised by IPGKTAR and UiTM Sarawak was part of the National Sports Council’s Continuing Coaching Education (CCE).

It was conducted by National Sports Council’s CCE panel comprising Dr Lim Boon Hui, Dr Chin Ngien Siong, Dr Balbir Singh, Dr Nik Shanita Safli, Pathmanathan K Suppiah and Ravi Margapandu.

“I am very impressed with the attitude and efforts of the Physical Education and Health Department of IPGKTAR, UiTM Sarawak and participants and looking forward to their contribution towards the development of sports in Sarawak,” said Sarawak Sports Corporation chief executive officer Dr Ong Kong Swee when opening the event.

Ong added he would definitely continue to support and collaborate with committed people such as Dr Chin, Gordon and others who have continuously contributed towards the development of sports science in Sarawak as sports science and coaching education plays a very important part of the Sarawak Sports Corporation’s development and high performance programme in the near future.

“l would like to thank IPGKTAR director Hamsiah Abdullah Masni, Salmi Lilek, Dr Chin, Gordon Nicolaus Jemat Anchang of UiTM and the National Sports Council for their excellent support and collaboration in organising the course,” he said.
