PUTRAJAYA: The 1Malaysia Civil Service Retirement Support Portal (1MCSRS) will be launched in June to provide information on five areas to retired government servants.

Public Service Department (PSD) director-general Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi Zainal said they were health, job opportunities, financial management, entrepreneurship development and well-being.

“For example, a pensioner can find out if there is a job vacancy in the portal and on ways to have a medical examination,” he told a media conference after the pre-launch of the 1MCSRS portal at Putrajaya Hospital here, yesterday.

The result of a study by PSD on 3,000 respondents showed that 80.76 per cent of pensioners stressed on health issues followed by well-being and financial management aid, he said.

Mohamad Zabidi said the initiative was under the Blue Ocean Strategy and involved numerous ministries, agencies, non-government organisations and the private sector.

Mohamad Zabidi said the first step related to continuity of health, among others, was having a rapid lane at government hospital and clinics, health screening services at selected government clinics and monitoring of health at hospitals.

In his speech earlier, he said there were 610,000 government servant retirees including
55,000 retired soldiers today who could still contribute to the nation.

“But, there are those who feel they have become a second class group and isolated. As such, we believe this group needs attention, appreciation and their welfare looked after,” he said, adding 18,000 civil servants retire every year.

According to a study by the Health Ministry, until the end of last year, 65.7 per cent (1.6 million) of senior citizens including the pensioners were registered at government health clinics and it exceeded the set target of 60 per cent, he said.

As such, he said the target was raised to 70 per cent this year to reach the  stipulated target of 75 per cent, under the Senior Citizen Health Service Implementation Guideline by 2015. — Bernama
