KUCHING: More than 50 pedigree dogs are expected to participate in the 20th and 21st International All Breeds Championship Dog Show on April 13.

The international event for dog owners, breeders and enthusiasts by the Sarawak Kennel Association (SKA) will run from 10am to 5pm at the Hills Shopping Mall.

“For this upcoming international dog show, more than 50 pedigree dog entries are expected to participate in the different breed classes and group categories from minor puppy to puppy, junior, intermediate and open,” SKA president Johnson Jong told a press conference yesterday.

He said Seob Yoon from the Korean Kennel Club (KKC), South Korea and Danny Tam Wai Hung from Hong Kong will be the judges.

“By organising championship dog shows, SKA provides good opportunities for dog owners and breeders to exhibit their pedigree dogs, offers a benchmark of breed standards in the state and show handling and grooming skills,” said Jong.

The association continues to develop and build close ties and affiliations with internationally recognised organisations such as Union of Asian Kennel Club (UAKC) and Alianz Canine Worldwide (ACW).

He said the public will have the chance to view numerous breeds, learn about dog show rules and competitions as well as ways to train and showcase dogs.

The dog breeds include the Beagle, Bullmastiff, Chow Chow, English Bulldog, German Shepherd Dog, Golden Retriever, Miniature Pinscher, Pomeranian, Pug, Rottweiler, Siberian Husky, Schnauzer (Miniature), and Shetland Sheepdog.

The main sponsors are Smart Heart, an established food brand name distributed by TLS Marketing Sdn Bhd, and Hills Shopping Mall.
