KUCHING: The Sessions Court here yesterday adjourned to April 15 sentencing for a 45-year-old man who pleaded guilty to two robbery charges last month.

Judge Allaudeen Ismail fixed the date for the sentencing of Sata Daong from Pusa, as the exhibits were not available.

Sata admitted robbing two women in two separate cases on March 31.

He was first charged for robbing a woman of her handbag containing RM600 and other personal documents around 11am at a shop in MJC Batu Kawa.

Earlier around 9.30am on the same day, he robbed another woman of her handbag, which only contained a passport, when the victim was walking by the roadside along Jalan Sungai Moyan here.

He was released on a RM5,000 bail with one surety for each charge.

Sata was also ordered to present himself to the nearest police station every month until the completion of the case.

Both charges were framed under Section 392 of the Penal Code, which provides for up to 14 years in jail and whipping upon conviction.

Sata was not represented by any defence counsel, while DPP Stella Augustine Druce prosecuted.
