Court fines man RM2,000 for house trespass

KOTA KINABALU: A man was fined RM2,000, in default, six months jail, by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday after admitting to having committed house trespass.

Magistrate Ryan Sagirann Rayner Jr imposed the fine on Azwan Ruspa after he pleaded guilty to the charge of having trespassed into the premises at Wisma Muis here on January 9, this year at around 7 pm.

The charge framed under Section 448 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to one year, or maximum RM2,000 fine, or with both, upon conviction.

Meanwhile, at another court, Magistrate Zaiton Anuar imposed fines of RM1,000, in default, one month’s jail, each, on two local men who pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol.

Tan Chik Hung had committed the offence along Jalan Lintas Plaza on March 23, 2012, at 2.12 am, while Sim Fei Kiang was arrested on March 23, this year, also at the same place at around 1.30 am.

The offence under Section 45A (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 carries a fine of up to RM6,000, or shall also be liable to 12 months’ jail, upon conviction.

Meanwhile, Jintander Singh Bhabra pleaded not guilty to reckless driving resulting in a road accident that took place along Lorong Tenggiling 1, Taman Sri Gaya on January 1, 2013.

The charge framed under Section 43 (1) of the same Act carries a fine of up to RM10,000, and shall also be liable to for a jail term that extends up to 12 months, upon conviction.

The court fixed May 7, this year for his case management and released him on a bail of RM1,500, with a local surety.
