Fake MyKad lands Indonesian in jail

KOTA KINABALU: The Magistrate’s Court here yesterday sent an Indonesian man to jail for five months for possession of a fake MyKad.

Mohd Salleh Sanusi, 31, admitted before magistrate Zaiton Anuar to possessing an identification card belonging to Ahmad bin Lesebbi, bearing the serial numbers of 730401-12-1613, on April 6, this year at the car park premises of a resort here.

The charge framed under Section 25 (1) (e) of the National Registration Regulations 1990 is punishable with a fine of between RM3,000 and RM20,000 or three years’ jail or both, on conviction.

The court also ordered the accused to be referred to the Immigration Department after serving his sentence.

Meanwhile, the same court set April 30 for re-mention of a causing hurt case pending further instruction from the prosecutor’s office.

Yih Eng Chung, 43, is charged with hurting Lo Hon Bun, 34, by hitting him with a stick on July 13, 2013, at Kedai Kopi Shan Hai Tian, Taman Delima, Likas at around 7pm.

However, Lo testified yesterday that he wished to retract his police report filed against the accused on account of their friendship. He said they had made amends and the accused had paid for the medical fees to treat his injuries, thus Lo did not wish to prolong the case anymore.

The charge framed under Section 324 of the Penal Code is punishable with maximum imprisonment of three years, or with fine, or whipping, or with any two of such punishments upon conviction.

Inspector Lim Swee Beng prosecuted in both the cases.
