KUCHING: A mechanic from Bau was fined RM5,000 in default six months’ jail by a Magistrates’ Court here yesterday after he pleaded guilty to consuming drugs.
Magistrate Shafiza Abdul Razak Tready fined Frank Dominic, 32, whose urine was found positive when a test was conducted on him at Bau police station about 2.30pm on Jan 29. He tested positive of amphetamine and methamphetamine.
Shafiza also ordered him to be placed on three years’ supervision by the relevant authority.
In mitigation, Frank, who was represented by Abdul Rahman Mohd Hazmi, told the court he felt remorse and promised he would not do it again.
He said he did it due to peer pressure and had moved to Kota Samarahan to keep away from the negative influence.
Frank was convicted under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952. He paid the fine.
