RBAF prepared to defend sultanate’s petroleum resources from threats

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Military knowledge and spiritual shaping provided during the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) military basic training need to be used apart from being able to mould character of personnel in line with the current world situation and upheavals which need a high level of preparedness at all times, said the Permanent Secretary for Downstream and Energy at the Energy Department at the Prime Minister’s Office (EDPMO),  ©BRUDIRECT.COM reporetd.

Such preparedness, said Dato Paduka Hj Jamain Hj Julaihi, not only focuses on sophisticated equipment but also on preparedness in understanding and carrying out duties and roles of the RBAF as the nation’s frontline of defence in maintaining the importance of the country’s main resources, fossil fuels, from any element that can threaten the country’s economic revenue.

The knowledge and experience gained are not only useful during their service as RBAF personnel but is also needed if they would like to venture into a career in the energy and petroleum sector upon retirement, said the Permanent Secretary at Passing Out Parade of the 150th Intake of Male Recruits.

This includes career opportunities as mariners which is undoubtedly a challenging career. Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) Company will also establish a special unit called Search and Rescue (SAR) in its Aviation Department which needs employees who are skilled and experienced in the field.

One hundred and twenty male recruits from the 150th Intake completed their basic military training after they undergone training for six months. Recruit Md Arif Ismail was selected as best overall male recruit while Recruit Md Eddie Bovie Efendiee was the best in the academic category.

Recruit Md Affan Zulkernain Berundang was selected as best M16-A2 Assault Rifle Shooter. Recruit Atharuddin Hj Md Dinainah and Recruit Md Nor Hifzhan Wafin Adanan were selected as best shooter of heavy barrel automatic rifle and physical exercise respectively.

The best male trainer went to Awang Julizan Shahrin while Faizullini Abd Fattah @ Apat was selected as best male platoon sergeant. Also present was the Commander of the RBAF, Yang Dimuliakan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Seri Pahlawan Md Tawih Abdullah.
