KUALA LUMPUR: The Deputy Premier of Australia’s leading State – New South Wales (NSW) – Mr Andrew Stoner arrives in Singapore on Tuesday (April 15) to promote bilateral trade and investment opportunities.

Mr Stoner, who is also NSW Minister for Trade and Investment, will meet with senior business leaders in Singapore, which is a priority market for NSW.

“NSW and Singapore are fortunate to enjoy a strong relationship and I want to build and strengthen that,” Mr Stoner said.

“This is my second visit to Singapore in seven months, highlighting the importance we place on this bilateral relationship. My message is that NSW is open for business and ready for business with Singapore.

“I look forward to meeting senior representatives of Cold Storage again and seeing NSW food and beverages on their supermarket shelves as part of a showcase promoting NSW food and beverages.

“The NSW products come from across the State and include fruits and vegetables, dairy, chocolate, breads, and cakes which I am sure will tempt the supermarket shoppers.

“This initiative is a result of my visit in September last year.

“I want to investigate how NSW can supply more food products to Singapore and South East Asia. Our State is well known for its ‘clean and green’ agricultural sector, we produce some of the world’s finest food, wool, wine and grain and we have an excellent biosecurity status.

“The NSW Government is committed to building and maintaining close economic and cultural ties with our key international partners including Singapore so both our economies can enjoy a mutually beneficial relationship.

“Bilateral merchandise trade between Singapore and NSW was valued at A$4.9 billion in 2012-13 and I believe there are further opportunities for growth.”
