KUCHING: Thieves broke into a kindergarten at Jalan Stapok, Batu Kawah, carting away nearly everything of value inside and damaging its fixtures.

The break-in was discovered around 7am yesterday when teachers arrived for work to find the premises ransacked of its computers, DVD players, CCTV cameras, alarm system, bags of rice and about RM2,000 cash.

The perpetrators also vandalised the kindergarten by damaging the doors, window blinds and window frames.

Total loss was estimated at RM25,000.

A check showed the thieves gained entry into the premises by forcing open a window at the side of the building.

In a separate case, a cleaning supervisor claimed she was bundled into a car by strangers and robbed of her valuables before being dumped on the road on Monday.

The 32-year-old from Jalan Matang told police the incident happened around 1am while she was walking towards Demak Laut commercial centre from a nearby petrol station.

According to her, a Perodua Kancil with two men inside pulled up alongside her, dragged her into the vehicle, and sped off.

Inside the car, one of the men threatened her with a machete and ordered her to surrender her valuables: four mobile phones, a wristwatch, gold necklace, gold ring and wallet containing about RM350.

The robbers then drove to the State Stadium where they shoved her out from the car, resulting in her suffering bruises and scrapes on her arms.

A police report of the incident was lodged and the case is being investigated.
