BINTULU: Police are looking for Andy Tony from Rumah Stephen Sungai Bawan Kanowit to assist in investigation of a robbery at a warehouse in Kidurong Industrial Estate on Monday.

During the robbery, a foreign worker and his wife, both aged 24, were tied by seven to eight masked men armed with weapons around 2am.

The suspects then drove away two lorries parked in the warehouse.

Bintulu police chief Supt Madang Usat said the wife of the victim also claimed the suspects had molested her by touching her private parts.

After untying themselves, the victims informed his employer before calling police who alerted all police districts on the robbery.

“One of our mobile patrol units in Tatau spotted the two vehicles around 4am heading to Sibu and gave chase. The lorry drivers refused to stop and one of the lorries almost had contact with our police car,” he said during a press conference at Bintulu Central Police Station yesterday.

Police managed to recover the two lorries abandoned at Km77 and Km87 of Tatau-Sibu road respectively, not far from the entry road to the nearby estate. All the suspects had escaped.

Police found a wallet which contained a MyKad and other documents belonging to Andy Tony in one of the vehicles. There were also a knife and ski masks.

The case is investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.

“Based on early investigations, we believe all the suspects are local.

The CCTV installed at the premises will be scrutinised,” Madang said.

He urged the public who might know the whereabouts of the suspects to call the nearest police station or investigating officer Insp Leonard Lanking at 019-8155416 or 086-331121.
