Lorry driver shot on way to work

Yii’s blood is seen splattered on his motorcycle.

SIBU: A lorry driver was shot on his right shoulder near his workplace at Lane 4, Then Kung Suk Road here about 7.30am yesterday.

Yii Ko Hong, 31, was shot by an unknown person while on his way to work.

He, however, still managed to ride on his motorcycle to a factory nearby where his friends called for an ambulance.

A factory supervisor said he heard an explosion followed by the revving of motorcycles speeding away.

He only realised Yii was shot when he saw him bleeding from the right shoulder.

Paramedics who attended to Yii found two pellets in his shoulder and a gunshot mark at the back of his right arm.

They rushed Yii to Sibu Hospital where he was reported to be in a stable condition.

Sibu police chief ACP Mohd Kamal Kordi said the case was being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.

Yii was said to have criminal record for arson in 2009.
